Diversify Your Portfolio (Professional & Financial), Then Diversify Your Closet

So, I watch youtube videos to see chicks show me how to attempt hair styles, make-up routines, etc. Mind you, I've discovered some good stuff out there, like my MAC NC 42 concealer and how to give my weave a bleach bath to revive it instead of going to buy more. Some of these girls are making some money off of their videos, due to the number of hits and advertising they do. If its just a paid hobby, I have no problem with it. I love seeing a woman have fun with girly things. But what about the woman who is a youtube celeb because she has the most organized closet with lots of shoes and purses. She parades around in her custom closet, shows off her Giseppi's (don't care to spell it right) and her hundreds of pieces of jewelry - all in her apartment! And we're not talking a New York, Manhattan apartment. No, it was a Valley Hills-type apartment with white bathroom and chrome fixtures.

I'm not judging. I'm saying someone has their priorities out of order. Someone is spending TOO MUCH money on things that don't appreciate - clothes, an apartment, designer shoes, pieces of cheap jewelry. I ended up looking at a couple of people's hauls. This one girl was priding herself on spending only $25 on a sweater, $8 on a ring, $10 on a scarf, and so on and so forth. And she was clearly explaining this stuff to us like it was so relevant. And these girls go into great detail to explain their article of clothing/jewelry. Its a shirt! Its brown! It sparkles! Its over-sized! Whoop-dee-doo! I think some of these girls use their channels as a source to seek validation. They want to be cute or be seen. So, they put themselves out there - for the lamest stuff.

But back to the point of my post - these girls/women are spending TONS of money on things they don't need! That brown sweater or that shirt that looks like the one you're wearing. These bangles that are just bangles....Miss Jessie's 2-oz curl pudding for $8 just cause you had to try it. Really? I don't get why women go in a store and buy different stuff just to "try it" when what they have at home works for their hair/skin regimen? And if they paid you to say it, you need to stop it! You're polluting vulnerable minds and watering them down just like those products in your hand.

I want these women to challenge themselves for 6 months. Don't buy ANYTHING! Every time you're in the store and tempted to buy something, make a note of the item and price in your phone. At the end of the 6 months, review the list. If you had those items, would you have worn/used them? Do you still need/want them? And then the million-dollar question: how much money did you save in those 6 months? Now, let's talk about what to do with that 6 months worth of extra money. Let's see....a savings account. Free to anyone at your local bank. Um, an Individual Retirement Account (IRA). You don't have to wait for your employer tells you to start a retirement fund. Um, save for a down payment on a HOUSE and put that RENT money of $800 toward a home in a record-low price/interest rate market. Use that money to go buy a GOOD suit - one my Anne Klein not My Michelle - and get a career.

Now, for my women who are financially and professional savvy, we should show these young women how its really done. Show, the house you're living in. Show the car that's paid off on the garage and no desire to buy a new one because you like having the money left over to put extra into your retirement or VACATION fund. Yes, vacations. Let's talk about our trips to other countries to explore various cultures. Let's show them our 3-inch or less career pump - because we know platform stilettos are no-nos for a couple of reasons in the office. Let's show our lined, tailored suits. Let's show our 5-minute face because who has time to glam up when you're hustling to get that promotion at 8 a.m.? I'm just sayin....

Diversity for portfolio, then your closet.

Four More Years!!!!!!

I attended Obama's first 2012 election rally in Columbus, Ohio earlier this year. It was awesome to see him and the First Lady in person. I didn't get close but just being there was amazing and powerful. Like then, the acceptance speech this past Tuesday, gave us the encouragement for equal rights and improvement for all citizens of this nation - much like Dr. King back in the 50s.....funny how history repeats itself.....or is it still the present situation 60+ years later???? Regardless, we successfully elected the first BLACK/AFRICAN-AMERICAN President of the U.S. - TWICE! TWICE! That's significant. The first time, I think was easy. USA citizens were fed up with the state of the nation - from economy to education to health care - Bush messed up and it was time for CHANGE. Obama, honestly, just happened to be the candidiate who won the ticket for CHANGE. CHANGE was not about race, it was about a new party running the country. It was time for a Democrat and the Democrats chose Obama. Now, all we had to critique him on was his limited years of experience in the Senate and his background. Given that his middel name is Hussein, that gave the media and critics bait, but they came up empty. He won. Election 2012 is FAR more significant than 2008. 2008 was HISTORIC and time for CHANGE. 2012 was CONFIRMATION that we BELIEVE in our DECISION the FIRST TIME and we want to see OBAMA move FORWARD with his PRGRESS to continue improving this nation. Election 2012 was harder to win. He had better competition with Romney. Plus, he had four years of Presidency to critique. That's tough. People were expecting him to move mountains in four years, and those people who don't realize all the details/facts/inheritance of the 2008 Presidency are out of touch. Still, though, he own. The gap was not as large as in 2008, but again, because he did lose some supports and he had better compeition. Doesn't matter, though. He won! Let's take a moment and soak this in.....we have elected the first BLACK PRESIDENT of the USA TWICE! When I see this, and any other "first," I think of those who died, fought, struggled, to make it possible for someone to be a "first" and winning TWICE is winning for all those people who didn't leive to see their faith in a belief come to fruition. Now, let's watch a video that speaks volumes. The President discusses his PURPOSE for being President and does so with great PASSION. Last comment: This is how you know he was meant to be where he is. Its not about him. He does things for others. He realizes his purpose. When you act on the PURPOSE that you have been ordained to execute, God can do miraculous things through you. We are him to serve Him and do His will. Let's never forget that. Now grab a tissue...you will need it. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pBK2rfZt32g

Career Ups and Downs & Working on Me

So, to continue on with the punctuality post earlier, I know that if I were the boss, I would not promote anyone who comes in late everyday, so I know that I need to improve that in order to be taken as a serioud competitive employee. Last year, I took a one-year assignment and proved that I know how to do my job anywhere, but I failed to take it to the next level in increasing collaborative efforts between the two offices I was working. Not that this was a job requirement, but it would'be been an initiative that went beyound what was expected. I tried to initiate some things on the tail end of the assignment and upon my return, I just haven't followed through. So, I failed at that. Those initiatives would've put me on the rader of a new boss that was moved to my home office while I was away. I say all that to say - they created a new position in my office that I intended to apply for but they gave it to someone who was already at that level as a transition. That's not the problem. THe problem is the qualities/characteristics of the person who was transitioned into the office are the same that I share - its just I have not shown them. So, knowing that I'm not punctual and that I'm a procrastinator in just about everythign I do, but when I want to do something, I expect the moon and stars immeidately, I will begin working on this. How? I don't know. Help is appreciated. Advice is appreciated. In the mean time, I am happy for anyone who is able to do the things I'm trying to do and maintain a family and go through a divorce (the person who got the transition position). I am not a hater. Though she has scorned me through our previous work interactions, I admire and respect her work ethic and way of dealiing with people, even though she is "bout as slick as an oil can." I recently turned 30 (need to write a post on that) and I promised God and myself that the worrying/stressing of my 20s would not follow me into my 30s. I didn't want to carry that weight into a new decade, which I see as an age of maturity and confidence. The 20s were a transition period from college/dependency to real world/independency. I'm happy the 20s are over - not trying to rush life - but the experiences that made me know: when to pick battles how to engage with people; how to be happy are over. Bringing all that into my 30s, plus so much more, I look forward to calmer days. I know the struggles and trying days will come, but I am better prepared. I also found some letters I wrote to God in 2009 and the things I wanted in life (personal and professional) were nothing compared to what He gave me. So, with that I learned to "let go and let God" because my steps have been ordered I've been divinely made to carry out a plan that has yet to be determined by me. I do beleive that if God puts it in your mind/heart, that means he has laid the path...but I believe, in my experiences, that God puts a hint of what He has planned in your mind/heart and then shows up and shows out! So, with all that said, I'm waiting on my blessing, but working on me in the mean time. Tuesday, I will start getting to work at 8:00 and I will make those follow-up calls and setting up those meetings. No matter how delayed they may be, they will be on time and better late than never! However, I know my worth and value. I believe in waiting on the Lord and being still. However, in this day and age, the world is moving and you have to move with it. Like Obama, I will serve 8 years. In 8 years, if he can set this nation on a path for greater prosperity for all, I can and will have certainly proven my talents, skills, and abilities to my workforce. If that is not rewarded with promotion in 8 years, I will be "taking my talents" else where. Therefore, my job now has a 1.5-year notice of my departure. Now, this certainly is not what I want to do. That seed was placed in my head. My hear tells me in due time will happen. You know who's in my heart? God. The Spirit is telling me to remain faithful, confident, and continue to work hard. My work, as always, is for Him and will be rewarded, as lon as I continue to work for Him and fulfill the PURPOSE of the His will in me. Amen!

Black Women Always Late - is it in our DNA?

Yes, not ALL black women are late all the time. Its a woman than in general, sometimes. Anywho, I've noticed about 3-4 black women at work with me come in around the time I do - 9-9:30. We're supposed to be there between 6:00 and 9:00. I don't know why it takes me so long to get to work. Okay, yea, I do. I don't get up when the alarm goes off. My clothes are not all put away and organized for easy access. I have a terrible routine, or lack thereof, in the evenings that could expedite my process of getting ready in the morning. For the umpteenth time, I'm about to derive a morning routine schedule for myself. Let's see how this goes.....do you have a routine that works and gets you on time to work? Please share!

Just Dropped a Ton on a Couch! Ouch!

I just read my last post, which was at the beginning of the year (sad to say its the end of the year now...anywho). The last sentence was about people's attachment to labels and their piss-poor financial mentalities. Well, I'm very frugal. I spend only what I have to every month and eat out when I feel like it cause I don't have many bills. Other than my mortgage and the bills that come along with maintaining a house monthly - that's it for me. Yes, no car note. I drive a car that will last me until the wheels fall off. So, when I go out to buy something, needless to say, I have the money readily available but I always go for what I can get in the most frugal way possible. However - sometimes - I have these ideas in mind and when I find it, the price tag is not what I had in mind. This happened when I found the wrap-around sectional I wanted for my living room. First, I could buy as many pieces as I needed to get it to work for my measurements. Next, I had to decide on color and man, it was tough deciding between the traditional tan (which was my first choice) and a gray that looked good in the store as the "new brown," but looked like dark denim blue when I got up on it at home with the sample. Anywho, I decided on the tan because I LOVE tan and brown and can incorporate those colors plus endless numbers of others with the tan. Now the price! Chile, let's just say it cost more than the down payment on my first house. Oh, I blinked my eyes and my heart beat much faster as I handed her the funds to pay for my couch. Again, I reminded myself that this is what I wanted; I work hard for they money; and that I deserve this. What's interesting is that I never had to do all that talking to convience myself when I put down a five-figure check on my second home. I realized that I've been trained to make SMART INVESTMENTS that will APPRECIATE, not PURCHASES, period. With the execption of my smart phone recently ($300 by the time I walked out the store w/the protection plan) I usually spend $50 or less on any given item and 80% of the time its $25 or less. So, its hard for me to swallow the pill I paid for yesterday, but I'll get over it. The couch is coming in 30 days and now I just hope I can live with the color selection. At this time, I have to remind myself of how blessed I am. I am a rare flower in the field of weeds. Not many people - period, not just SBF - in middle-class America can do what I did. Let's just focus on me. Six years ago, I had a few thousand in my pocket as I graduated from college. God ordered my steps and placed me in a very secure career with increasingly good pay and benefits. He allowed me, with assistance from my parents, to buy a house fresh out of college. Five years later, I bought my second home - all on my own - and got twice the house for only $100 more a month due to the low (at the time, now they're even lower) interest rates. I'm so thankful to be in the position I'm in to do the things I do. This is not a bragging session on me. This is me realizing how far He has brought me FINANCIALLY. My prayer is for EVERYONE to have that blessing, also.

Trying 2 Get More Readers

So, the problem with getting more readers is that I want to remain anonymous to protect all parties and to prevent any issues. Not that I have bad things to say, but as a professional woman, I don't want everyone to have access to my thoughts, if you know what I mean. So....I'm advertising right now via Twitter. This may not be effective advertising for me since people on there communicate with 140 characters or less and I tend to have lengthy posts. Also, it seems people are more interested in the shoes you wore with some outfit or the new expensive purse your man bought you. I mean, what do I have to do to generate interests in normal, everyday topics? I will, though, at some point discuss our fascination with these labels and our piss-poor financial mentality.

Let Your Sails Down and Let God Blow You Where You Need to Be

Which when they had taken up, they used helps, undergirding the ship; and, fearing lest they should fall into the quicksands, strake sail, and so were driven. Acts 27:17

During this storm, the Apostles let the sails down and let God guide the ship. Joel Osteen mentioned this today during his message "God is in Control of the Storm." One thing he said today that stuck with me is: "God directs the winds of the storm to place you where you need to go/be."

I find this is soooooo true. I always said something similar, "God takes you through things to prepare you for what he has in store for you." Now many people have derivations of this and we are all saying the same thing - He's preparing you for what's in store. He's preparing you and thus increasing your faith and trust in Him while you may be down here on Earth preparing yourself physically or mentally.

You can listen to just about anyone and hear how they got through a storm and on the other side was something better. Listen to Joel Osteen, Oprah, Tyler Perry, Jennifer Hudson, me, anyone, including you. Think about where you were last year, what trials you faced, how you got through them, and what the outcome was. God brought you through that and He'll bring you through them all.

And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to His purpose. Romans 8:28

With that we must embrace every opportunity, every storm, every triumph, every trial because we know its all divinely ordered and according to His will, which shall be done.

Where am I going with this? Well, right now I'm on an external assignment but will return to my home office in a few months. My boss changed while I was gone and the new boss, despite what I already had planned, wants me to do something else. I'm not opposed to the move in mind because I am interested in the area the boss recommended, but I do not agree with his reasoning. I have learned to recognize when God is trying to move me. I also have learned that if God places something in your heart (like an interest on the job) that mean she's already ordered your steps to do it, He's just telling you about it now. I sacrificed leaving a position similar to the one being offered to accept the current external assignment. I loved the nature of the work I was leaving and now have an opportunity to combine that with what I've been doing for the past 5 years. How blessed is that! So, instead of fighting the reasoning behind the bosses rationale for the move, I am embracing God's delightful plan for me and realizing that the boss just didn't quite know how to sell God's divinely-ordered plan for me.

We know the story of Jennifer Hudson. She did not win American Idol that year, but Fantasia did. I believe God needed Fantasia to get that break then because he knew the resilience and strength He instilled in Jennifer and would bless her later. Now, we know both of them have gone on to have successful singing and acting careers. Both have prestigious accolades and respect in the industry for their talents. God gave each of them what He desired for them to have WHEN it was time. So, the lesson from Jennifer's side in this is to remain focused, faithful, and never give up. For God is directing the path - may not be what you want when you want it, but when He answers, boy He answers big.

So, to sum it all up: let those sails down and let God use those winds to push you where you need to be. LET GO and LET GOD.

Cheerful Giver

I was sparked to write this post after hearing an E!News report that Garth Brooks wanted his $500,000 "donation" back from a hospital because they did not name a building after his mother. I was listening to the very short report while in the bathroom, so I researched the topic to get the real deal and details that may have been omitted by E! or missed by my ears in another room. Turns out the hospital verbally agreed to build a women's center and name it after Brooks' mother. Three years after Brooks "donated" the money, he received an e-mail saying the money would be used for "new construction." Well, its 2012 and still no women's center with his mom's name on it, so he wants his money back.

http://www.mercurynews.com/entertainment/ci_19786668

What do you think? Does he have grounds to ask for his money back? It wasn't in writing, according to the report cited. He wanted to honor his mother and thought this was a way to do it. He was not seeking financial gain, so it wasn't a business deal, more of a I-am-doing-this-because deal.

Every man according as he purposeth in his heart, so let him give; not grudgingly, or of necessity; for God loveth a cheerful giver. II Corinthians 9:7

Now, some may think that only refers to tithes, but I believe every "donation" and gift should be done cheerfully - from the heart. I'm not judging, but if Garth was really giving from the heart, wouldn't he be satisfied with any "new construction" going on at the hospital because it is for the aid and relief of the sick? When we give money to the church, can we tell them what to do? Yes, we can provide somewhat of a say in meetings, but its really up to the Pastor and church officials, much like the hospital decisions are left up to the director and board. Once you give a donation, you must let it go.

I also believe that you should give from the heart not expecting anything in return. So often, people use this as a reason and validation for following what God has commanded us to do for the church. We should not do what is right, expecting a reward. Yes, we know God will bless us, as he stated often throughout the Word, but you don't do something for that reason alone.

Now, I will admit that I am slow about tithing. One reason is because I pay all my bills automatically, so I don't sit at a table every month and write checks. So, it tends not to be something I think about doing. No excuse. I mean, if it was the mortgage that needed a check, I'd remember, right? I tend to remember at the end of the year because, well, its the end of the tax year. Though, I feel bad writing that off. Also, this year, I was blessed to make more money and now that my checks have higher significant figures, it made me pause once and wonder where the money is going at the church, but a great friend reminded me that its not my call or decision. I do what I'm instructed to do and let it go. Its not my concern what is done after that, as long as there are no obvious clues that the money is going for improper use, i.e. Pastor in a brand new Benz wearing a Movado when he used to drive an old Escort and wear Fossil.

So, I admit, I must work on my heart of gratitude and thankfulness so that when I write those checks, I am cheerful. I don't think about what God will do for me next, but I think "that's a lot of money." Instead, I should be saying, "Wow, God, if I multiply this by 10 I see how you blessed me 10 times over this year! Thank you! May I be of blessing to others now and I turn this back over to you."

Your thoughts?

Fashion

So, watching all these Houswives of {insert city], other "wives" shows, and seeing so many natural hairstyles, I am often intriged by the trends/fads we embrace.

One tends to be Christian Louboutin. Now, I do love the classy red bottom. I often see a pair or two on celebs like Beyonce or Rihanna that are the classy pump I would wear to the office or with a pair of jeans. I love the black ones with the gold toe and heel Beyonce wore recently. Love the patent, neutral tone I've seen Rihanna wear previously. Also, love a pair of blue, leopard-print ones I saw while Googling.

The platform sole with the 4-inch heel is popular. The one-inch platform up fronts helps take an inch off the 4-inch heel, so your foot feels like its in a 3-inch heel. I tried on some. My feet, which are a size 6, were too short to support such a big shoe.

I like handbags, also. Various styles and shapes, which make me not want to purchase major name brands because I like to change it up quite often.

As far as this natural hair revolution. So many women are doing it because its a trend. So many women do it because they want to be apart of a revolution and oppose chemicals. So many women take this stance and DARE a chemical head or white person say something out the way. They are so adament about being different/unique that they want you to raise their blood pressure. Going natural should be to improve the health and quality of your hair. If its not any longer than it was with chemicals, then go back to the chemicals. If you prefer the natural styles over the long ones, then okay - I see that. And everyone has a blog/vlog dedicated to their hair care. ugh....overkill.

So, this was just a light-hearted post on girly topics of interest while I wait on Joel Osteen to come on and then I must do school work. Working on a Masters. Didn't want to engage in a controversal topic or one that "raises my blood pressure." Wanted to keep a calm, cool head this easy Sunday morning. Now going to get my spiritual nurishment. God Bless!

Rejuvenated

It has been over a year - almost two - since I blogged. Where do I begin? Where do I begin? I will start off by saying that I think blogging is a great thing to do. Even if it does not help someone else, it help the blogger. Going back and reading about situations that occurred that, at the time, seemed like major things - but turned out not to be - is the best way to see God's work in your life. You can read your story and know the outcome and testify to God's goodness.

He's an on-time God. He makes things happen in due time and when he shows up, he shows out! I have been truly blessed and highly favored.

About one month after my last blog entry, I met Prince Charming. Oh! This man is my soul mate. 'Nuff said. I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE him. He understands me. He supports me. He makes me laugh. He makes me cry happy tears. He LOVES me. He holds me. He takes care of me. He makes me HAPPY. We do not have the perfect relationship, but its perfect for us. I definitely take us through things, but he's the most his resilience and tenacity keep us going.

After a year of dating, including many days together just cuddling and taking small excursions around town, I was looking forward to our one-year anniversary and anticipating him asking me to be his girlfriend. It did not go that way and, taking a page from my angry dad's page, I through a fit. (The first of quite a few that year). I went to work that Tuesday - following a holiday - still angry and applied, at the last minute, for a one-year assignment out the state, while currently on a new assignment in the building. Well, of course he and I got back on good terms and I was selected - top candidate - for the external assignment. It was tough to leave the current assignment that I liked and even tougher to leave Prince Charming, but I did it.

Meanwhile, I was having a house built and my job agreed to let me finish that before leaving for the assignemnt. That house closed, but without some headache due to the builder getting off schedule and delaying my schedule because, of course, I had a well-orchestrated move-out/move-in/move-up-north strategy. I had about three tantrums with Prince Charming, who served as my Realtor. All in all, it worked out.

The house is nice. However, I, like many times, second guess things. Cabinet colors, placement of the fireplace, etc, etc, etc. I have to stop looking at houses on tv so I don't get more ideas. oh, I really wish I had changed some things but Prince Charming and I will make ANY house a HOME. (We don't live together, but when I'm in town, we spend a lot of time with each other, including overnight sessions on an almost nightly basis.
) I love the extra space and my master suite, though its not isolated and my mom makes too much noise when she's there. Enough to not allow me to allow her to enjoy her stay. I bought the house with the fam in mind because my other house was just too tight for me to have them there often. Ugh. I have to have my space. Now, I am concerned about the stairs and living in this temporary apartment while on assignment allowed me to see that its hard to walk up and down steps in slippers. Also, I kinda wish i would've not been so focused on having the back of the sofa "meet" you as you enter the living room. I should've taken the advice of a "friend" and just put a sofa table with pictures back there and put the fireplace in the center of the wall, instead of the corner. Then, put my beautiful entertainment center on the adjacent wall. Now, I have no where to put it becauase it will be too close to the fire place if I try to put them on the same wall. UGH!

Anyway, the point I would like to make for this blog entry is that God answers prayers. Believe and work hard and He will do things for you that you would not be able to think to ask for. I asked for mediocre things and He blessed me abundantly with 10 times what I asked for. Job assignments x 10. Love x 10. Financial security x 10. Now, I'm praying and expecting health x 10 and I pray for all these things for everyone who reads this. God bless!

I will do my very best to blog more. I will reach out more on Twitter and other places to get more followers. Again, I want this to be interactive.

My Book

So, I started back writing my book. I started it almost two years ago and wrote about 5 pages in one sitting. I just wrote about another 3 pages. I think it will be more of a short story than a book, but who knows? Who knows what will happen with it? Maybe it'll get published in some way one day, if I ever finish it. We know, already, how bad I am with routines. Pray for me, y'all.

Beauty Routines

Are you good with beauty routines? I suck! I'm just so lazy when I get home. I hate to clean, cook, or do anything. I use all my energy at work to get ahead and come home and flop on the oouch. I'd rather spend hours on facebook than take the make-up off my face, iron clothes for tomorrow, fix a lunch for tomorrow, and cook a meal. Sad, huh?

I'm trying to do better. Due to my poor habits, I have acne and my teeth have shifted as a result of not wearing the retainers I was given when I got my braces off 10 years ago.

I tried Proactiv, and even when I was pretty thorough, I saw no results. I've heard mixed reviews, but I had not success. I've used Neutrogena and its been pretty good on my face, so I decided to go to their website and do the Skin ID and I think I'm going to go with their suggestions. Since they are customizing the routine to my skin issues, I have more confidence in it.

When I purchased the Proactiv, I purchased the Sheer Cover mineral make-up and I like it. Its quick and easy and it gives the light-weight coverage I need. I think I'll stick with it, but I'll probably try Neutrogena's mineral make-up for $10.

I purchased some aromatherapy lotions out of Bath and Body Works today. One for stress, and one for energy. I also purchased some of the sensual amber collection after being in a friend's house and smelling their electric outlet fragrance. I have it in now. Its sensual but also has a incense smell to it, too. I love it. They were buy one get one free and with all the aromatherapy lotion I bought and some foot lotion, I spent $39. Not bad!

I plan to finish cleaning up tomorrow. Should've finished today, but didn't. Laziness. Procrastination. So mad at myself.

Also, I started using Carol's Daughter's Tui collection. I have layers that won't grow out and I see a little bit, just a little, growth. The back grows find and it really is longer, now, but the layers are still pretty much the same. I will wash it again tomorrow and see how it does. I have a lot of dandruff, which I believe is due to growth, so we'll see how Tui does in my hair. I use the hair elixir and hair blam. I used to use the butter, but I've kinda neglected it.

I bought the Ecstacy and Almond Cookie scents, but have not used them yet. In the winter, I am so into scents. Hopefull, I will finish cleaning tomorrow and will use my scents in a nice bath.

In the last couple of days, my skin has been itchy. I think its due to a change in water on travel and really dry skin. Got to moisturize tomorrow - gotta! I got a scab, like I got some kinda skin disease or something. Gotta lotion up tomorrow.

So, what are your skin/beauty routines. I basically told you everything I'm supposed to/intend to do, but don't do consistently. Any help on how I can improve and have more discipline at home? Help!

Routines

So, I'm awful with routines. This because outside of work I'm lazy and a procrastinator. This explains why its been about a week since I've done anything on the blog. This also explains why my house is a mess. I mean a mess. I need to clean up BAD. Its awful for it only to be one person, but I don't have company like that so who cares?????

I don't really have much of anything to discuss. I've been a very calm, happy person so far in 2010.

My high school class is starting to plan is 10-year reunion. I have an idea, but I doubt it gets implemented correctly without me being there. The person I told it to is stubborn and lazy, so its not going to get addressed properly at the next meeting. The emphasis won't be there.

Other than that, I'm cool. I have had only ONE person comment so far. I had one person on blackvoices shout out my blog. Other than that, no viewers. What's up???

Other than that, I had a great day today. What about you?

Vivica Speaks on 50

Did y'all see when Vivica Fox was on the M'onique show on BET. I really like Vivica and always have. She has always been real. In my opinion, she is an example of a real, everday woman on t.v. and the big screen. She made it cool to be a little bigger in the hips and butt before Beyonce did - I remember seeing her interview on 106&Park back when the original Two Can Play that Game came out. And she's the first I recall saying that 40 was the new 30 when she turned 40 some years ago.

So, anyway, she was the M'onique show one night, but I just so happened to see a portion of the interview on another site. She got emotional when talking about 50 and the situation that occurred a few years back. She mentioned that she it was very difficult to go through that painful break-up in public, especially with all the things he was saying. She later said that a "boy" said those things and when he called her years later, he was a "man." I believe that. After watching 50's interview with Tyra, I do sense a little more maturity than before. Anyway, she was emotional when talking about the things he said and how she had to deal with it and how her dad told her that "he didn't make you so he ain't goin' break you." She mentioned "the first time we dated" when she started the talk. Then after describing her role in his video - the reason why he called her, by the way - she said that the leading role may have been a crazy woman, but she got him in the end. Seems like with "the first time we dated" and "she got him in the end" she's trying to make it sound like she's back with 50.

Hmm...50 only called for the video - they both admitted that in separate interviews. Seems like he's milking her for the publicity that will come from their bad relationship. She's sprung all over again, it seems. I believe he hit that again, recently, and she's sprung. Neither mentioned that he apologized, if I remember correctly. Seeing how she's acting, now, I wouldn't doubt the things 50 said in the past are true. Also, I learned when Halle went on Oprah, is that these are well-trained actresses, so they know how to cry on cue.

So, what do you all think about the 50-Vivica "relationship" - past and present? Talk to me!

No More Marriage - Diddy

Okay, so I just posted a few days ago about how the value of marriage has decreased and how it just seems people don't do it anymore.

Well, I heard a while ago (from whisperers in ATL) that Diddy and Kim were back together. (These whisperers are pretty reliable - they knew about Usher and Tameka back when Tameka still had the boutique and was still married, legally.)

So, now, Diddy tweeted late last night - and then deleted - that he got married. Peeps are already saying its Kim, so apparently people already knew he and Kim were back together. When I first heard that he got married, I assumed it was to Cassie cause I had forgotten that I heard he and Kim were back together.

Why I thought Cassie: Well, she's young and dumb. She would be well kept. Most older men like younger women to keep the sex frequent and good. Also, she'll probably not challenge him or his ways. Like I said, young and dumb.

Why I'm surprised its Kim: She's been though so much drama with him. Diddy left their long-term relationship for JLo way back when. Then they got back together and played family again by having the twins. But Diddy couldn't keep is "little man" in his pants and got another woman pregnant in ATL within the same year - so he has project triplets. (Diddy has a total of 5 kids, Justin, Christian, Jesse, Delila, and Chance (ATL baby girl). People think Kim's oldest son is his, but he's not - that's Al B Sure's son.) So, Kim finally left after the twins were about 6-9 months old. I really thought she was gone for good. She moved to the West Coast and from excerpts and reviews of her interview in Essence, she seemed like she had finally come to her senses. Guess not...

Why Diddy is getting married: I think he sees Jay married to B and wants the marriage thing. I think Jay is really good to B - I honestly think he's faithful to her...for now. Anyway, you know black men like to compete with each other and I think Diddy decided it was time to get married and he patched things up with the only woman he has truly loved (other than JLo - y'all know he loved her...even wrote a song and remix about her)...so he patched things up with the woman he loves that he can have.

So, this just proves that marriage happens when THE MAN WANTS IT TO. Y'all know they would've been married if Kim had her way about 10 years ago.

Now, the question is: will it last? Hmmm....the odds are more against this one that they were on Bobby and Whitney, who lasted about 11 years. I give this 11 months.

Your thoughts?

UPDATE: Diddy says he did not get married - it was drunk tweeting. Hmmm.....either he's lying cause they want peeps out their business and Kim's embarrassed or he married Cassie and they want to keep it hush cause he knows he ain't got no business with her legally like that or he really did not get married and was pissy drunk...who knows? But why tweet that!??! Can't wait for an interview where he addresses this after he and his many assistants and publicists have time to come up with a good story. Twitter gets more peeps in trouble than it helps them. I suspect celebs will stop tweeting in 2010 if they are smart, which clearly many of them ain't too bright. LOL!

Happy New Year!

Happy New Year! I thank God for allowing me to see another great year and decade. I brought in the new year last night in church, surrounded by happy, faithful people. The message came from Numbers 6:24-26, which states that God is blessing and KEEPING me and he shines his radiant face on me. (Today is such a beautiful, sunny day.....God is already showing up and showing out in my life in 2010!) I left last night's service confident and ready for the new year. All last year, I worried, cried, stressed, and just didn't take the time to enjoy life's blessings. Well, this year, I asked God to help me get over those ways. He's working on me.

I feel great today. Going to clean the house, wash my hair, and just relax. I'm going to enjoy these three days off (even though I may go into work Sunday after church).

So, what great things are you doing this year? I don't believe in New Year's resolutions. We should make resolutions to improve ourselves everyday, but the new year is like a fresh start for many, and I must say that I do feel refreshed today. I'm working on my attitude, happiness, faith, and outlook on life. What about you?

No More Marriage

Marriage is not very appealing anymore. So many cheaters out there. Steve McNair. Tiger Woods. The next door neighbor who attends church every Sunday and whose wife goes on mission trips. So sad. Yes, I named all men cause I don't know any women who have cheated on their husbands. Not saying they don't exist, but I don't know of any. Inform me, if you do.

Where I am, most men get married cause she's pregnant. Nine times out of ten, I think the woman planned this. You know when you got a good one who will "do the right thing." Since you're on a timeline and he's not moving fast enough you lay off the birth control and convince him to stop using his protection, neither of those two are hard to do, at all. Getting a man to marry you, now that's hard.

In Hollywood and even in regular life, people are having babies like its nothing! A year into a relationship, they are having a baby. Babies with no marriage. I will not have a man's baby after only a year in the relationship. I do not plan to have a man's baby unless I"m married. Plan, I say. If I'm 33, not married, and want a child......that may change, but we'll discuss that when I get there.

So, what do you think about these people just popping out babies with these people they barely know? What do you think of marriage with all this cheating going on? What do you think of marriages that have occurred due to pregnancy?

I Have Daddy Issues

I have a very controling, sometimes hateful, dad. He and I love each other very much but I hate his ways. He has physically abused my mother a few times....and she stayed. He has talked down to hear....and she stayed. He has upset her on several occasions.....and she stayed. He does not appreciate her the way he should....and she stays. He does not fix up the house or make the repairs to make her life easy....and she says nothing. He does not love or think my younger brother is as great as me and it shows....and Mom says nothing to him.

Due to my experiences as a child watching all this, I have issues that affect me as an adult. My dad did not sexually abuse me, so I did not become a stripper. But my dad controlled our house and allowed no one to say anything, so I now voice my opinion all the time and can't control my emotions because I've had to swallow so much that I am at capacity. So I became an angry, black woman.

I'm working on this. I'm trying, y'all. I'm praying. I'm taking deep breaths. I'm just trying to suppress the memories, but when your mom and brother still live in it, how can you just act like it does not exist? As he has aged, he has become much more mellow. He does not argue, holler, fuss at my mom anymore. I think he has really calmed down a lot. She has obviously let go of the past, but I have not. Also, he still holds a grudge against her for some financial issues she created ~15 years ago. It has all been fixed, but he is so selfish, now with her and my brother, who is sitll in high school. He always was easier on me and I have his personality, so he knows not to say too much to me. I get to him with the silent treatment and acting like he's not there.

I just want to see my brother go on to be a great success to prove to himself and my dad that he's great and I want my mom to get out of there. She does not deserve to live in that trashy house under his power until she dies.

Because of all of this, I WILL NOT let a man have ANY type of control or power over me. I work hard to be independent for this reason. Depending on ANYONE is not an option. Also, until I can get my dad's ways out of system ( i have his temper and angry ways) I will not get married - by choice. I have had men like my mom who want to ignore my issues and be with me, but I won't allow it. I will not repeat the cycle. I think its partially hereditary, but I just saw so much that I just don't know how to deal with my emotions. The smallest thing that someone says or does wrong affects me soooo much. This is going to send me to an early grave with the stress and anxiety. Pray for me y'all.

I'm working on this. I'm trying to find more things to enjoy in life. I'm exercising more. I'm finding new outlets to relieve stress and anger....exercise, yoga, kick boxing......any other ideas? When I'm at work, how do I stop things from bothering so much? What do I do?

Daddy's please love your families and treat them right. You just don't know the effect it has on the ENTIRE family.

No More Tyra Show

So, I guess Tyra ran out of "qwirky" topics and decided to end her "goofy" show. I must admit that I've found a lot of her shows interesting (the period show, the real hair show). Because of her show I have crushes on Reggie Bush and 50 Cent. Before, they were just fine, sexy, chocolate brothers, but due to her interviews with them, I got to see the caring, fun, and even sexier side of these brothas. Also, she was a major Beyonce fan. I like B, but not everything she does. Tyra would mention B almost EVERY day.

She's supposed to be concentrating more on producing films. I dunno....I think she should produce some films first before dropping the show. It really got good ratings and won awards every year its been on, which is impressive for a former supermodel turned talk show host.

I wish she would end ANTM. Enough of that already! We all know how to walk, pose, show our emotions, and most imporantly, SMILE WITH OUR EYES. There are too many models out there, which brings down their value - especially when singers/actresses model, too. One good thing about ANTM is that it taught us to embrace our unique qualities. Now you have people with all kinds of "flaws" posting pics of themselves with confidence. But, again, ENOUGH already. After Eva's season and Jade's season (yes, I know Jade did not win, but she owned that season) - I was done. I watched a couple of other seasons after that, but not as consistently or with much interest.

So, now I wonder who will fill in the two-hour time slot of the CW everyday when she goes off? I suspect all kinds of people will try being a talk show host again like back in teh 90's when Gayle King, Tempestt Bledsoe, and Ananda Lewis dipped into that arena. Who will fill Oprah's spot?

I'd love to see Solange have a talk show. Random, huh? But that chick is smart, diverse, and open-minded. She speaks with ease and has the confidence to talk about things and to be a good, positive, young woman on t.v. Make it happen Papa Knowles!!!

Who would you like to see with a talk show? I'd like to see a good male with one, but who?
